- Origin
- Lateral epicondyle of the humerus (common extensor origin)
- Insertion
- Dorsal base of the 3rd metacarpal
- Nerve
- Deep branch of the radial nerve (C7-C8)
Actions
- Extends and abducts the wrist
- Stabilises the wrist during gripping

- The tendon most often affected in lateral elbow tendinopathy ("tennis elbow").
