- Origin
- Lower two-thirds of the posterior fibula and interosseous membrane
- Insertion
- Base of the distal phalanx of the great toe
- Nerve
- Tibial nerve (S2-S3)
Actions
- Flexes the great toe
- Weakly plantarflexes the ankle
- Supports the medial longitudinal arch
Notes
- Tenosynovitis is common in ballet dancers (posterior ankle).
